'Feathered' Reading in NYC accomplished!

On December 7th, 2014 the cast of 'Feathered Thorns' did a script Reading in front of a well received audience. It took place at Joria Productions. It was a splendid night!

A 'Feathered' reading

Yesterday me and the cast read through the play 'Feathered Thorns'. It was a wonderful time and to hear the play being read was great. We spoke for an hour afterwards, just scratching the surface of what the story and characters are about.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking out time to view our blog for the upcoming stage play 'Feathered Thorns'.
I am the playwright and director of the play, my name is Keith D. Bracker. I am known as an independent movie director/screenwriter, so this is exciting to me to enter the theatre world. Me and the team are thrilled to present what I'm hoping to be a dynamic experience for everyone that attends the play early next year.
In the meantime, here is where you will find the latest updates, photos, news on the cast and crew and showtimes for the play.

'Feathered Thorns' is a dramatic story about finding oneself in the arts, it's about letting go, self-worth, idolizing, faith, mother and daughter relationship, along with the art world as its' back drop. I wrote it as a screenplay back in 2008. Began to film it late 2008, but because of production complications the film came to a stand still and I didn't know what would come of it after that.

However, as of 2014, I picked the story back up and decided to challenge myself and see if I could adapt this fascinating tale into a stage play. What came out of that process I believe is a beautiful, touching story that many will be able to relate to.

The synopsis to 'Feathered Thorns' is about a young, smart, talented mute girl, Qiao, who lives with her aggressive mom, Xiu. Xiu wants her daughter to pursue a more stable, 'worthy' job, besides being a painter. But Qiao is very good at what she does and she loves painting and sketching. She has a deep fondness for a popular female painter name Nhung Long. Xiu knows about her daughter's admiration towards Nhung and her work, so Xiu sets Qiao up with Nhung and Nhung allows Qiao to live with her for some time. The story explores the mentor and student relationship between the two of them. Qiao gets a taste of Nhung's world as both women effect each other in more ways than they expected.
